There is a gate that says no trespass but that is for motorized vehicles I was told :) This is the start of the trail but it is confusing. It would be nice to have some signs.

Description

This is a gravel road that takes you up to Rocky Face Ridge. It's a 2-mile climb on somewhat eroded road. Once you're at the top, you have a 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains. To the east, you see Fort Mountain. To the south, you see Dug Gap Mountain and Hurricane Mountain. To the west, there is Lookout Mountain.

If you continue on this trail, you'll enter a very rocky section of trail that goes through civil war fortifications or breastworks.

Awesome to hike up here in the evening and watch the sunset!
