McGouns Track offers an alternative to the lower stretch of the Pineapple Track, or can be used with Pineapple to form a short loop. McGouns is an aesthetic trail through lush forest. Numerous bridges cross small creeks and wetter areas, and make for fun walking. Tree ferns along this track are outstanding, and the forest often rings with the songs of bellbirds and tuis. A short walk along a gravel road connects the base of McGouns Track with the carpark at the base of the Pineapple Track.
