Description
Although the nearby pass and this peak were named after the rock formation at the top of this trail, it no longer truly resembles "Rabbit Ears." Over time this volcanic plug has eroded, looking more like any other Colorado rock formation.
Regardless, this peak is still easily recognizable, and is still a sought after, easy to access summit. Due to its accessibility, Rabbit Ears Peak proves a perfect day trip for hikers of any ability level.
The hike itself starts as a very easy stroll through a beautiful wildflower meadow. The last quarter mile of the hike, however, can prove a difficult challenge to some as it's essentially a rock scramble. Be careful approaching the summit as the rock is quite loose in places.
