Description

Find the Donaldson Run trailhead just off of N Marcey Rd., just next to Marcey Park.

Donaldson Run Trail closely parallels, and often crosses the stream that is its namesake. Most of the stream crossings have large enough rocks to cross without getting your feet wet, but this might not be the case after heavy rains. The trail itself holds water, so it is also very likely to be muddy after a decent rain.

Once the trail crosses underneath of the George Washington Parkway, it turns into more of a steep rock-scramble then a trail. Use caution while descending/ascending this portion of trail as it can be treacherous, especially when wet. At the bottom, you'll reach a junction with the Potomac Heritage Trail.

Flora & Fauna

This trail travels through a rather old-growth hardwood forest and features very tall oaks.
