We caught the train at Beamis and rode to the top of the mountain, which is the train's ending point. We wanted to walk the 4 miles back so we could get some fishing in and enjoy the beauty nature has to offer. ♡

We caught the train at Beamis and rode to the top of the mountain, which is the train's ending point. We wanted to walk the 4 miles back so we could get some fishing in and enjoy the beauty nature has to offer. ♡
This sign can be seen from Rt 28 and signals the start of the Smoke Camp Trail.
The trail climbs through wooded forest that is marked by blue diamonds.
Nice views to the east from the overlook.
After passing through open Observatory fields, the Nature Trail follows the side of dense woods populated with both broad-leaved trees and conifers. Beautiful in autumn!
The Nature Trail leads visitors past towering conifers and straight to the Green Bank Telescope.
