An alluvial spring rises on the west side of the preserve...it flows across the barren, then sinks on the far side.

Here's the sink that redirects all the surface water back underground...which, around here, is where it belongs!
An alluvial spring rises on the west side of the preserve...it flows across the barren, then sinks on the far side.
Whatever this is, it's pretty and there's lots of it!
This is the view coming out into the big central open area.
Where the water comes into an open area with some sun, you get these neat blooms of wet greenery!
You never know who you're going to find on Tennessee trails...
This is the memorial plaque at the trailhead of Flat Rock Barrens.
