The beautiful craggy edges of Shortoff.
The decaying tree around halfway up the Shortoff Mountain Trail. It reminds me of the Jeffery pine that was once atop Sentinel Dome.

This is the reward for climbing up on top of Shortoff Mountain! You can see the Linville River carving its way through the gorge with the peaks of Hawksbill and Table Rock (right) towering above.
