The trail descends along a gravel road.
The trail turns to gravel toward the end. The Ridge Trail can be seen climbing the hillside in the distance.
After passing through the gate, the trail hugs the ridge line and changes into a dirt track.
From the Ridge Trail, you can see the Hawk Trail descending the hillside and the Alder Spring below that.
This alternate trail leads to sweeping views of the area.
Wildflowers can be seen growing in the upper portions of the trail, even in the fall.
