The trail skirts a narrow hillside with a steep drop-off on the right hand side. It's the trickiest part of the hike, but nothing that can't be conquered.

Looking back toward the trailhead, the trail winds through the trees and the brush. There aren't trees on the hills because it is so dry compared to the creek area.
The trail runs close to the creek bed, causing trees to be plentiful in the area. This provides shade during the heat of the day while the higher trails in Pinnacles lack the shade.
