Sometimes downed trees are an obstacle in the winter. The Friends of the Smokies and trail maintenance crews do a great job cleaning up blow downs throughout the year, making it easier for people to enjoy the trails.
Working your way up the ridge, you get obstructed views of the surrounding mountains.
Great hike to the old Walker Sister's Homestead. Watch out for copperheads near the old cabin and barns.
