A bison on lookout duty for his herd. Painted Canyon Trail near the junction with Upper Paddock Creek Trail.
The trail climbs gently up a ridge before descending to the trail junction. You can see one of the trail markers up on the hill.
A view of the surround hills from Buck Hill, the 2nd highest point in the park.
The badlands spread out before you at Buck Hill. The views seem to be endless, and you might find yourself alone on the hilltop in the evening where you can be quiet and hear the wind blowing through the landscape.
You can really see how erosion shapes the countryside.
