Balsam Lake Mountain Fire Tower [Suggest Edits]

Description

Enjoy sweeping 360 degree views of the Catskills from the stell constructed 47 foot fire tower. The tower is atop Balsam Lake Mountain which as a 3,723 foot elevation. the Fire Tower is operated in the summer months by volunteers. Access to cab on top is possible when volunteers are present.

Half-Day Hike: There are two access points. The most common is via Dry Brook Mount Trail coming from the north to the south, with the trailhead off Millbrook Road. This is mainly a woods road type of hike with a round trip of approximately 6 miles. You can also access the fire tower from the south via Dry Brook Mountain Trail and Balsam Lake Mountain Trail, this is shorter - 3 miles round trip, but also more difficult.
