Description

Crystal Cave is a marble karst cave located within Sequoia National Park in the western Sierra Nevada of California. It is one of at least 240 known caves in Sequoia National Park. Crystal Cave is located in the Giant Forest area, between the Ash Mountain entrance of the park and the Giant Forest museum. For more information on cave tours, click here.

Short Hike: Only visitors on the Crystal Cave Tour are able to visit the cave or hike on the Crystal Cave Trail as it is a trail that leads to the cave entrance.

From the parking lot, follow the tour guide's directions before embarking on the trail. The trail is less than a mile one-way, and is a constant descent to the bottom (read: uphill return journey). Be mindful of poison oak and rattlesnakes on the trail.

The tour guides don't give much time to sight-see on the way down to the cave entrance because of the tour schedule. However, you'll have plenty of time to rest and take pictures of the cascading waterfalls after the cave tour on your way back up the trail to the parking lot.

Family Friendly: A short hike to a geological landmark guided by a park ranger.
