The original name from the Pemon indians is "Kerepakupai VenĂ¡, meaning "waterfall of the deepest place." (I'd like to see the Pemon name as the header with 'Angel Falls' as the subname)

This is the waterfall with the highest uninterrupted drop in the world (3,212 feet or 979 meters). The falls were first made famous by American aviator Jimmie Angel in 1933 but it was not until Latvian explorer Aleksandrs Laime visited in 1955 that anyone 'officially' visited the site.

Short Hike: You need to take a flight to Puerto Ordoz or Cuidad Bolivar and then take a boat in to arrive at the trailhead. Hike in a little over a mile and a half to get to the falls.
