Mason Lake [Suggest Edits]

Description

Mason Lake is a beautiful medium-sized lake nestled in the Cascades. When we visited on July 15, it was surprisingly warm water; I would guess it's because it's a shallow lake. The lake is easy to reach by a short hike. There were overnight campers around soaking in the scene.

Half-Day Hike: It's about 3 miles or so from the trailhead to the lake. The hike was not easy, but not hard. A couple boulder fields made for fancy footwork. The lake was walled on the east and south sides by an amazing cliff, and forest was on the north and west sides.

Family Friendly: With the option for an overnight trip, a trip to Mason Lake is a great 6-mile round-trip hike for older kids.
