Using HTML in hike descriptions

The hike input page says you can use HTML code (like italics <em>, etc.) but it's not clear how you implement this code.  Could you clarify this for me?  Thanks!

Hey Bruce,

You can input the HTML exactly as you did in this forum post. Simply write the code inline with the text.
