Whittier Turnbull Canyon

Overview

This area is a part of the Puente Hills Preserve managed by the Puente Hills Habitat Preservation Authority (Habitat Authority). Our mission is dedicated to the acquisition, restoration, and management of open space in the Puente Hills for preservation of the land in perpetuity, with the primary purpose to protect the biological diversity. Additionally, the agency will endeavor to provide opportunities for outdoor education and low-impact recreation. Check out our website at habitatauthority.org/about-us/

Local Info

To access this area, you can park along Turnbull Canyon Road at the Elderberry Trail entrance. Or park in Hacienda heights and hike over the ridge-line via the Schabarum Trail. Trail maps of the area can be found here habitatauthority.org/trails/

Visiting Tips

Be mindful of the Preserve trail hours found at habitatauthority.org/ Hours are sunrise to sunset. When the sun hits the horizon, the trails are closed. Trail are patrolled by rangers.
