If you intend to do this as a thru-hike, know that there are limited places to camp, limited re-supply options, and limited water sources.

This section of the NCT starts off the Long Trail, at Middlebury Gap. It follows Route 125 to East Middlebury. It follows Case Street, Cady Road, Lower Foote Street, Foote Street, then Middle Road South. The trail is well-blazed through this next section so just follow the blazes.

After crossing over Route 7, take a left, then a right (at the small dirt road). From here, the trail coincides with most of the Trail Around Middlebury (TAM). Shortly after crossing over Hamilton Road, the trail turns west to follow the Blue Trail. It passes by Bittersweet Falls, then follows a series of dirt roads and field edges.

The trail follows a few more roads and comes out to Town Line Road. Town Line Road is, basically, the home stretch before hitting New York. The trail turns onto Route 125, then left onto Route 7. The Vermont section of the NCT ends halfway along the bridge, spanning Lake Champlain.
