Need to Know
Although this trail appears on USGS topo maps, it is not accurately shown.
Description
Starting from it's junction with
Marble Point Trail the route climbs gently to the crest of the Hungry Ridge, sometimes following old roads or skid trails. After about 0.6 miles the trail crosses Hungry Ridge Road and begins to slope gently downwards. The grade soon steepens significantly and the trail makes several switchbacks down into Mill Creek Canyon.
Just before fording the creek, the trail passes the faint junction with Mill Creek Trail on the right. The ford of Mill Creek can be challenging at high water. After fording the creek, the trail angles downstream for a short ways before beginning to climb up and out of the canyon.
The trail climbs very steeply through here making only the occasional switchback. After 2.4 miles the trail reaches Upper Mill Creek Road 9485B. The large clear-cut across the road was logged in 2015 as part of the Festus Timber Sale.
