Overview

This is a pretty and dense forest hike. It was a very quiet hike through the forest, leaving you feeling like you're deep within miles of forest. There are nice wildflowers in the summer. The hike is easy though you need to step over many tree roots.

Need to Know

Free parking in a gravel lot. There isn't a sign marking the gravel driveway to the parking lot so its fairly easy to miss. Head north from Carp Lake Rd onto Camano Ridge Road and the parking lot is about a block up on your right. No port-a-potty on site. Horses are allowed June through September. No motorized vehicles are allowed though the trail accommodates bikes.

Description

This loop trail combines several trails, specifically the Road Trail, North Loop, and Forest Trail.

Most of the trails can accommodate two people side-by-side which is nice, though part of the North Loop is single file.

The inner loop trail, as shown on the map, is 2.5 miles. If you take the full outer North Loop trail and skip the inner Forest Trail then this adds on another mile.

The trails aren't marked at all so take a good look at the map before you go.

Flora & Fauna

A very tall tree forest with lots of ferns.

History & Background

The trails of Camano Ridge Forest Preserve were formalized in 1996 when the Department of Natural Resources permitted FOCIP (Friends of Camano Island Parks) to create a half-mile access walking trail from Can Ku Rd across two small parcels of land that connected to the larger piece of land. FOCIP, with the help of community members completed the trail in 1997.
