Need to Know

This is a fee area.

Description

This is an easy trail that is far from the primary highlight of Newberry Volcanic National Monument, but can be worth taking for additional views of the forest along the edge of the lava flow. It also is strategic for use between the parking lot, visitor center, and picnic tables.

Flora & Fauna

Watch for ground squirrels (no stripes on their heads) and chipmunks (striped heads).
