The northern portion lies within WMWA—expect hunting restrictions in the fall. Dogs are welcome on the southern side of Summit Trail, but are still restricted from the portion that lies within WMWA.

Description

The trail starts just off of SR 554 and heads right up the mountain. This trail is very challenging due to the steep grade and unrelenting uphill. At the Summit Trail, the trail continues north into the Williamsport Watershed.

If you are looking for a nice 5k loop (aka - the Coathanger), there is an old road grade that parallels 554 that starts at the end of Summit Trail and will connect to the bottom of Culbertson. This loop is completely located within DCNR managed land.

While maps of the area may show the trail continuing further to the north, the northernmost section heads onto private land and has not been maintained in years.
