The White Trail is one of the longest in Alley Pond Park and very easy to follow. Be sure to follow the white "metal" markers, not the painted ones. The trail itself is quite narrow on the east side of the park, but broadens on the north side and stays that way until you arrive at the pond heading east.

Just after the pond is a pine forest; it smells so good in the warmer months and there are lots of rabbits. The north side of the trail has two hawks living in the area. When the trail does widen, you should expect to see people with dogs, most are leashed.

There are quite a few trees down due to storms, but the Parks Department has cut paths through most of them or built steps to get over them. You even go under some of them, which are secured and clearly marked with the metal trail marker.

Overall, this is a great beginner trail for all to enjoy.

There are lots of animals and birds to see ... look for hawks, ospreys, owls, Ring-necked pheasant, quails, mallards, wood ducks, American coots, Yellow/Pine warblers, cardinals, Blue jays, as well as rusty blackbirds, bluegill, perch, carp, killifish, turtles, salamanders, bullfrogs, and toads.

There are oak-hickory forests, white oak trees, red maple-hardwood swamps in the kettle ponds (which there are four), American beech trees, red oak trees and tulip trees. Alley Pond Park has a tulip tree that is approximately 350 years old.
