Description

Do you like switchbacks? This trail starts near the Krassel Guard station and climbs steeply up to Krassel Knob. The climb up to the knob has so many switchbacks that you'll loose count as you go back and forth again and again. Despite the switchbacks, this climb is very steep, but it has some amazing views.

Once at the top of the Knob you'll have a choice to turn right onto Six Mile Ridge North Segment or left onto the Six Mile Ridge South Segment or just continue straight. The trail will descend and connect into the Buckhorn drainages to create a nice loop. The downhill is a series of long roller coasters, with some short ups and long downhills. There are some loose sections on the trail, but it is fun as it descends into the Buckhorn drainages.

The trail ends at the West Fork of the Buckhorn. From here you'll have three options depending on how long you want to hike. You can turn around, and head back the way you came, or head either east or west.
