Description

1777 East Trail begins at the main parking area for Bear Mountain near the lodge and is one of many red-blazed trails in the park. It shares a path with the blue-blazed Cornell Mine Trail for the first 2/3 of a mile as it passes under Seven Lakes Dr and south to near 9W. It will then branch away on its own slightly toward the west.

Be mindful of a number of unmarked trails over the next section: one will cut back to Cornell Mine Trail, one will head south and then back north through Doodletown to Suffern-Bear Mountain Trail, and a third heads south to Edison Mine. Stick with the red blazes.

At roughly 1.3 miles, you'll come to a small pond formed by a dam on the Timp Brook. Right after the pond, there is another unmarked trail that heads south to June Cemetery before coming to an intersection with 1777 Trail and 1777 West Trail—both blazed in red.
