Description

This trail begins at Spruce Coulee Trailhead near the Rodeo Grounds parking lot and follows an abandoned road that meanders through woodland and open fields. Eventually it meets the Bull Trail road and continues across this road, ending at Spruce Coulee Campground. Toilets, firepits, drinking water, a picnic shelter, and tenting sites are available at the campground.

This trail is located just east of the town of Elkwater off Highway 41. It's the longest trail in Cypress Hills Provincial Park and provides a chance to see a little of the park's quieter areas. The trail provides deep forest hiking on root covered trail. From the trailhead in a grassy meadow, the trail climbs over a small height of land with a pleasant growth of wildflowers before it descends several times through some wet terrain. Keep your eyes out for moose as you travel through these wet areas. The combination of dry upslope conditions with marshy lowlands makes this trail unique.
