Description

Upper Henry Creek Trail has a bit of everything; smooth singletrack, steep and rugged descending, open sage, tight trees, and mountain vistas.

Upper Henry Creek is done as a shuttle by itself or in combination with Thunder Mountain, Lake Mountain, or Rattlesnake Ridge Trails.

This trail is not easy to follow: you'll need backcountry savvy, a map (that you know how to read), loaded GPS, the Hiking Project mobile app, or a local.

Access is via Lake Creek Road (028) either from the South Fork of Williams Creek or above Williams Lake. Behind a small, brown trail marker at the saddle on the high point of the Lake Creek Road (028) is the start of Henry Creek Trail.

The first 1.5 miles of Henry is pretty gentle trail with some climbing that comes to the head of an open high ridge and an old two-track. Follow the two-track down briefly and head right to a cow-patch, then through it and straight down the head of the canyon on cow trails.

After 1.5 miles the trail steepens and descends along the drainage making it tricky to follow. The last 0.5 miles is quite steep.
