Need to Know

To ascend this trail from Quarry Gap Road, the trailhead is directly behind the water authority bldg. #1 on Quarry Gap Road just 30 yards from Rt 233. The trail is not blazed with tree markers but is easy to follow.

Description

To get to Yellow Ridge Descent from Milesburn Rd, climb up Greenwood Road Trail and through the power lines. Eventually, you'll come to a four-way intersection. Turn left on Yellow Ridge Trail. The climb to the top of the ridge contains some steep, loose, and rocky climbs.

Once at the top of the slight hill, a long and sometimes steep downhill awaits. With small rocky sections, you can make quick work of this trail. Especially since most descents in Michaux are technical, this can be a breath of fresh air and an opportunity to admire your surroundings, and worry about your foot placement a little less.

The end of this trail dumps you out on Quarry Gap Road. To get back to the four-way intersection, turn right on Quarry Gap Rd. and then another right up Locust Gap Trail.
