Description
The trail begins at the south side of the parking lot heading through a gate. There is a kiosk here that usually contains trail maps of the area. Once through the gate you'll follow the dirt road. Wildflowers are plentiful throughout this route in the spring time.
This trail continues to parallel Rock Creek. At just under 0.5 miles you'll go through another gate. From here the trail start to move away from the creek's edge. Instead, you'll wind through the many basalt rock formations throughout the landscape before rising to a view above Towell Falls.
From here you'll descend towards Rock Creek. Once nearing the creek, you'll find a trail marker with a faint trail heading west towards the upper falls. Follow this trail to the upper falls. This is a nice place to have a snack as you can stand at the top of the falls.
