Family Friendly The full extent of this trail may be a bit long for some, but the opportunity to see ruins is sure to excite young imaginations.

Description

60 yards from the Skyline Drive there's a small parking area to the left of the Pocosin fire road. Follow the fire road, past the chained entrance, then past the Appalachian Trail crossing. Less than 0.1 mile beyond the AT crossing, a broad trail leaves the fire road on the right and goes 200 feet to the locked Pocosin Cabin. If you'd like to rent the cabin for your own use, contact the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club.

Continue along the fire road. After about a mile, the road levels out and swings left, and intersects with the Pocosin Hollow Trail and the Pocosin Trail.

The Pocosin Trail comes in on your right and will lead you to the Mission ruins. Continue along the fire road, eventually the Pocosin Hollow Trail will be to the left, which will lead you to the park boundary. Continue ahead on the fire road. The fire road also continues to another section of the park boundary.
