Description

No matter how you slice it, you'll be in for quite a climb hiking to the top of Star Pass as it tops out at over 12,000ft. However, the climb is worth it as you'll be treated with some of Crested Butte's finest alpine views and high alpine wildflowers. The other reward is the fact that the descent down into the East Brush Creek drainage goes on for miles.

This is usually used as an out-and-back or from the Cement Creek side as a loop. If hiking from Cement Creek as a loop, head up Cement Creek road several miles. Take a left on Trail 583. Stay on 583 until you come to the junction of 583 and 400 (Star Pass). From here you'll be treated with a very steep descent into the East Brush Creek drainage.
