From NW Skyline Blvd near the edge of Forest Heights, the entrance to Firelane 2 is vaguely marked by a tiny dusty path. The entry is fenced from vehicular traffic but the chain link is cut out to allow hikers to pass. As you enter, almost immediately there is confusion about which direction is the correct path as you begin a small climb to the peak of the ridge. There is also a wide access off to the left. There is an old "no trespassing sign" on a tree implying hikers are unwelcome on this trail, but the sign refers to leftmost gas line path that runs parallel to NW Skyline Blvd. Pass by that sign on your left and continue straight up the hill for a slight incline.

After the very short climb, Firelane 2 is entirely downhill except for one small section between Wildwood Trail and NW Leif Erikson Drive Trail. Much of Firelane 2 is a bit rocky, with hard mud that is slippery when wet. It is suitably wide for hikers in all areas but there are spots where it is clear it served as a road, although more than half the "road" is overgrown. Going down this hill to NW Leif Erikson Drive Trail or Wildwood Trail is easy.

From the opposite direction, Firelane 2 is a bit easier to follow. It is clearly marked from the NW Leif Erikson Drive Trail and is a great option for people getting access to Forest Park from Forest Heights. At the top of the path and through the fence, you can cross Skyline Blvd, and to your right, see a stunning view down over Forest Heights and Beaverton, beyond.
