Description

This trail travels through thick forests north of Point Beach State Park. This forest includes oak, aspen, white pines, hemlocks, among many other tree species. The trail covers ground over some sand dunes and offers some great views of Lake Michigan to the east. It connects with the Ice Age Trail: Point Beach State Park segment along with other trails in the Rahr Memorial School Forest, making for loop options for those looking for a longer trek. The trail is fairly flat but provides some technical footing on the sand dunes.

Keep an eye out for various wildlife while traveling through this forest. Documented wildlife include foxes, white-tail deer, wild turkeys, song birds, birds of prey, and waterfowl, among many others. Rumor has it there was even a mountain lion sighting here recently.

Overall, this is a great path for anyone looking for solitude in a scenic and quiet forest.
