Family Friendly While the descent into the gorge could prove challenging to children, the views of the bridge and the New River Gorge can be worth it.

Description

Looking for a hike with stunning photo opportunities of the New River Gorge Bridge? Go no further than the Bridge Trail. From the trailhead off Fayette Station Rd., head east, climbing moderately for 0.4 miles before plunging sharply into a series of switchbacks clinging to the gorge rim. Continue down the trail, being sure to watch your footing on the rock-laden tread, until reaching a flat section of trail directly under the bridge. Take your time, and marvel at the feat of construction above you.

Once you've taken in this scenic and famous bridge, you have the option of returning the way you came, or continuing onward to the trail junction with the Fayetteville Trail.

Trail climbs over a ridge then meanders under the bridge without a viewpoint. Beautiful walk in the woods with huge rocks on the other side. 1.4mi
