Per current conditions posted by the Eagle-Holy Cross Ranger District ( fs.usda.gov/alerts/whiteriv…) this is currently open from the parking lot to the Line Shack. Whiskey Creek and Everkrisp will open June 21, 2021.

Description

The Line Shack Trail climbs relentlessly over 2,000' up a dirt road of the former ski area. The surface is generally packed dirt and mostly smooth without too many roots or rocks. There are only a few eroded sections to contend with but these don't last long. The grade is consistent through many switchbacks and never very steep. Pass through several grassy serene meadows and shady aspen groves as you ascend. The meadow and views are great. Reach the old shack at the top, and then descend Whiskey Creek!

This trail is popular with mountain bikers, so expect to share.
