Description

This trail, marked by red blazes, starts from the parking area and follows the Peters Kill down to the High Peters Kill Trail. The trailhead is on the left side of the parking area, just beyond the gatehouse. It starts out as a carriage road and passes some cliffs on the right and some swampy areas on the left. At the end of the carriage road, the red-marked trail turns right and follows a small stream. It eventually crosses the stream and ascends some rocks. The trail through the slab of rock is marked and should be followed. Note that the rock can be slippery at times. After descending from a high point, the trail follows a small stream. About halfway, an unmarked trail appears on the right. This is the Bull Wheel Trail. It climbs the old ski slope back to the parking area.

The red-marked trail eventually meets the blue-marked High Peters Kill Trail. Turn left to return to the Lower Awosting parking area. Turn right to hike to the Coxing parking area in Mohonk Preserve.
