First Cliff Walk [Suggest Edits]

Description

The Cliff Walk at First is a new, very scenic attraction and, best of all, it is free (although getting to First requires either hiking there or paying for lift tickets). It is a metal walkway suspended from the cliff side with amazing views over Grindlewald, the Eiger and other glaciated valleys. Gaze over the vibrantly green valleys with the musical bell sounds of cows grazing in the distance. Waterfalls flow through too. There is a special "surprise" at the end of the walkway that is very worthwhile, but may give some folks the willies (don't look at the pictures unless you want to give away the surprise)! There is a detour around this part if you are not game.

Folks prone to vertigo or who have a fear of heights may not enjoy this walk, but it is safe - with guard rails and an even surface. You'll know within the first few feet if it is too scary, and it is easy to turn back early and regain solid ground.

Short Walk: Although the lift tickets are pricey, this is a particularly unique experience. It combines fun gondola rides with amazing scenery for very little effort. From the top of the gondola, head uphill, following large billboard signs for the cliff walk. It is a one-way route and starts around a hilltop knob to the west.

Family Friendly: Lift-served access means it is not too taxing for the little ones. Food, bathrooms, and shelter at the lift station make this a low stress excursion.
